Crisis Fund
The future of Fairbourne Railway is at stake. Following the death of its major benefactor, Prof Tony Atkinson, who covered its annual shortfall, the trustees are having to consider redundancies and a reduction to services. One person has already been made redundant and if the timetable has to be drastically reduced this will have a major impact on local businesses, including the Barmouth ferry service.
In 2009 the railway became a charity, “The North Wales Coast Light Railway Limited” and all loans made by the previous owners, Tony and Maureen Atkinson and Roger and Mandy Melton were written off.
The Fairbourne Railway Preservation Society is heading a major fund raising drive to ensure the railway’s future. These are some of the ways in which you can help:
Make a one off donation to the charity, “The North Wales Coast Light Railway Ltd.” If you are a UK tax payer, your donation can further benefit from Gift Aid. You just have to include your address with your donation and confirm that you are a UK tax payer.
