Rowen Nature Centre

The Rowen Indoor Nature Centre (named after Fairbourne Beach's original name Ro-Wen) was originally developed to enable visitors to see the local wildlife. In the summer the aquariums feature local fish and crustaceans many of them from the beach or from Barmouth harbour. The freshwater stream has trout, dace and sticklebacks.

For 2009 the G-Scale Railway will be extended much further. To accommodate a new branch line the three aquariums have been removed (the fish have been re-homed). The two barn owls have moved to the Borth's Animalarium (http://www.animalarium.co.uk/) allowing the ferrets to be moved to a much larger enclosure. The freshwater fish, lobster pool, chipmunks and reptiles remain but the extended railway will be more interactive. G-Scale Railway sets will be available to buy in the Gift Shop.
