Rowen Nature Centre
The Rowen Indoor Nature Centre (named after Fairbourne Beach's original name Ro-Wen) was originally developed to enable visitors to see the local wildlife. In the summer the aquariums feature local fish and crustaceans many of them from the beach or from Barmouth harbour. The freshwater stream has trout, dace and sticklebacks.
For 2007 many of the birds and animals have been re-homed and construction of a G-Scale narrow gauge railway layout has recently begun. The fish, lobster, terrapins, lizards, owls, ferrets and chipmunks remain.
Clockwise from top left, in the photographs below, are Chris Price, Steve Thorpe and Janet Thorpe.
