The Fairbourne Railway Preservation Society
Like most narrow-gauge lines today, The Fairbourne Railway relies on volunteers, working alongside our full-time staff, to keep running. The Fairbourne Railway Preservation Society welcomes members of all ages who are interested in supporting the continuation of the line. We are also offering an opportunity to those who would like to get involved in the running of the railway. (Minimum age for active volunteers is 16 (14 with direct supervision from a parent/guardian))
If active support appeals to you however much, or little, time you have available, we would be delighted to see you. Unlike virtually any other line, we can offer members the opportunity to participate in almost every aspect of the railway operation. So whether you are interested in being a guard or a gardener; painting or permanent way; engineering or even perhaps being an engine driver; we can use you. If you should have any particular skills or experience which may be of use, please let us know. In return, we can offer you an absorbing and rewarding interest, great fun - and as much tea as you can drink!
Other membership benefits include:-
- A regular magazine, packed with news, views and articles.
- Travel concessions on the Railway (50% Discount).
- Social Activities.
- Excellent accommodation for working supporters in our own fully equipped Lodge.
And most importantly....................
The opportunity to play an active part in running The Fairbourne Railway.
